Cardiovascular Screening

Tests are conducted by a qualified Exercise Physiologist specialised in the area of cardiovascular disease and health management. A 15 min health screen involves taking a quick finger prick test to obtain cholesterol and blood sugar results. Blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference, family history, smoking and activity status are also discussed. A printed report comparing the participant’s current health status (as matched against somebody of the same age and sex) is then provided. Results are discussed with the physiologist and guidance is given where appropriate, to support positive lifestyle changes that will ultimately affect long term health outcomes.

Fasting is not required, but it is preferable not to have recently consumed caffeine, fizzy drinks or sugary snacks 2 hours prior to the test

  • Physical Activity

Being physically active is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity provides a range of health benefits at any age. And the good news is activity doesn't have to be vigorous - moderate activity, such as brisk walking, is great for your health!

The Heart Foundation recommends that people do at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity on all or most days of the week. You can do this in bouts of 10 minutes or more if it is more convenient.

    Exercise programs

Most people know that regular physical activity is good for their health. But you don't have to exercise at a vigorous level to achieve health benefits. Check out some of our great aerobic classes, held daily at the Gallery 4o2
